- Description: Computed-generated visualization of scientific and engineering data, whether originating from numerical simulation or experimentation, can convey important technical information but also reveal original and sometimes surprising visual aspects. The ACCES Visualization Contest is aimed at fostering interest in the use of visualization by encouraging the insightful and visually-engaging presentation of scientific and engineering data. The contest is open annually for contributions from students and post-docs within the School of Engineering (STI) and the School of Architecture, Civil & Environmental Engineering (ENAC) of the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL). A total of 55 entries were submitted to the 2015 ACCES Visualization Contest, 35 in the Image category and 20 in the Animation category.

- Description: Every year, the Swiss Operations Research Society proposes a prize of 1000 CHF to reward an outstanding theoretical or applied Diploma Thesis in the field of Operations Research. Tomas' thesis, entitled "Integrated Berth Allocation and Yard Assignment Problem in Bulk Ports Using Column Generation" won the prize for 2013. It was carried out at the Transport and Mobility Laboratory, EPFL as his Erasmus leave from the Transport Department at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU), and sponsored by the Zeno-Karl Schindler Foundation. The research was supervised by Nitish Umang (EPFL), prof. Michel Bierlaire (EPFL) and prof. Stefan Ropke (DTU).

Accepted projects were exhibited at the Research Day and participated in the poster competition. Antonin Danalet's poster, about bayesian estimation of pedestrian activities using sensors data, won the 3rd prize.
