Analysis of traffic conditions with GPS 14. data

To control the traffic in the city in the real time regime we should have a model of how the traffic conditions change itself and in response to control measures. In this project we will try to answer the first question using real data from Shenzhen city in China. The data contains GPS tracks of all the taxis. The project consists of two parts: - Using the algorithms of map matching developed in the lab students will be able to find the approximate map of speed of traffic for each 15 minute period during one month. With some additional assumptions the approximate map of density of vehicles can be found. - Analysis of obtained picture. Construction of different models of propagation of congestion. Investigating the speed of propagation under different external conditions.
