Special issue: Public Transport Modeling

Public transport models describe and predict transit system performance and the patterns of network usage by passengers, which are a fundamental input for planning and operations. The models currently used do not take adequately into consideration the effects brought about by the increasingly advanced and widespread Intelligent Transportation Systems on public transport operations and on users' behavior.
Significant developments were made in recent years in the field of transit assignment and operations models. Special areas of interest include the impacts of service reliability, real-time information provision and passengers' crowding on public transport performance and travellers' decisions in response to them.
This special issue on Public Transport Modeling is dedicated to methodological and theoretical developments as well as advanced applications in this domain.
Topics of interest include (but are not limited to):
- Route choice in public transport networks
- Methodological advances in transit assignment
- Path search methods and journey planner applications
- Impacts of ITS on travel behavior and operations
All contributions will be peer-reviewed according to the usual standards of the journal.
